Sponsor an Island Child

Many children on Likoma Island are eager to learn, but financial barriers often prevent them from continuing their education. The Sponsor an Island Child program provides crucial support, enabling children to attend secondary school and – when possible – pursue further studies.

Thanks to generous sponsors, 60 students received scholarships in 2024, covering school fees, uniforms, books, and meals. In addition, 12 students are currently attending university with Foundation support, two of whom proudly graduated last year and now contribute back to their local community on Likoma.

Just $265 puts a child through one year of secondary school, and between $500 to $1,400 sponsors a student for one year at university (depending on the school and course). However, sponsorship is about more than just financial support. It’s a chance to build a personal connection and empower a child to shape their own future. We aim to grow this program each year, ensuring that no child is left behind for lack of opportunity.
