To help bridge the digital divide, the Green Safaris Conservation Foundation launched the IT Upskill program on Likoma and Chizumulu Islands. The initiative provides community members – especially youth – with essential digital skills, empowering them to meet the growing demand for basic IT proficiency in today’s job market.
Participants gain hands-on experience with key tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and foundational knowledge of computer systems and internet use. Looking ahead, the program aims to expand by offering training to local primary school teachers, many of whom currently lack the skills needed to use the computers donated to their schools. By equipping educators, the IT Upskill program will create a multiplier effect, extending digital literacy to the next generation of students.
