Green Safaris Conservation Foundation sponsors six nursery schools on Likoma Island, with a caretaking and feeding programme. At every nursery school we pay the salaries of two caretakers, who look after the children between the ages of 2-5. Moreover, daily nutritious food is provided for these schools.
A big problem in many African countries is a lack of access to nutritious food, especially for children in the developmental stages. Such malnutrition can be disastrous for their health, or even fatal.
Next to the food provision, the caretakers are providing basic education to these small children during the day.
