Conservation Education Clubs

Today’s children will have to deal with a lifetime of climate issues, more than any generation before them. Making their first steps into the world while navigating environmental challenges, it is essential that children learn about nature conservation. Through the Conservation Education Program, we’re empowering future leaders with environmentally friendly ideologies.

Over the course of 15 weeks, the 6th grade pupils of Nalusanga, Lusekelo, Mpoka and Lutale Primary schools will learn about a variety of conservation subjects. A pivotal enhancement was the comprehensive training provided to club teachers at the year’s onset, enabling them to independently deliver conservation lessons. Topics include climate change, what is conservation, human-wildlife-conflicts, poaching and the importance of trees.
To reinforce classroom learning, in 2024, 120 students embarked on field trips to Ila Safari Lodge and participated in game drives within Kafue National Park. These excursions offered firsthand experiences of Zambia’s rich biodiversity, often featuring sightings of elephants, lions, leopards, hippos, and even cheetahs.
Through this immersive approach, the Conservation Education Clubs are nurturing a generation of environmentally conscious individuals poised to champion conservation efforts in their communities.
